The county judge serves as the chief executive officer of the county government and also authorizes and approves the disbursements for all appropriated county funds, operates the system of county roads, administers ordinances enacted by the quorum court, as custody of county property, accepts grants from federal, state, public and private sources, and presides at the meetings of the quorum court without a vote but with the power to veto.
The SFC Judge has a road department supervisor who helps oversees the county road conditions, train all new road department employees, check and repair all bridges in the county, and help make decisions on the roads that need repaving. And the SFC Judge has a solid waste supervisor that is in charge of the hiring and training in this department, resposible for the collection, transport, processing, recycling or disposal, managing and monitoring of waste materials. Also has a 911 Co-ordinator that principle duties and responsibilities for the county are to maintain and update the E-911 computer database and base maps, assign building numbers upon issuance of a building permit, and request for approval and adoption of new or changed county road names. The St. Francis County Veteran's Office is located inside the courthouse. To be eligible for most Veterans Affairs(VA)benefits you must be discharged from active military service under other than dishonorable conditions. However, some military personel may be eligible for certain VA benefits while on active duty when they have completed:
1. 90 days of service during wartime and/or conflict periods OR
2. Two(2)years of military service since 1980 OR
3. 181 days of service during peacetime.
